WCH 2011: Staff Named for Men´s - CANADA.

Toronto, ON – Canadian Ball Hockey Association Senior High Performance Director George Gortsos announced Monday the staff of Canada’s Men’s National Team for the 2011 ISBHF World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.

“Our Men’s National Team Staff have worked very hard to get to this level, and I look forward to see the successes they will bring to the program in 2011”, said George Gortsos Senior High Performance Director. Gortsos added “After being involved with the National Team for many years now and having worked with all of the staff named today at some point in my career, I can honestly say we have one of the best staffs ever assembled to lead this team”.

Tony IannittoGeneral Manager / Head Coach

Head Coach of the Montreal Black Knights and General Manager of the Men’s National Team since 1996, Iannitto has won two National Championships and five World Championships. He has also served as Head Coach of Canada’s Under 20 team.

Mike SchweighardtAssistant General Manager

Former coach of the Vancouver Falcon Machine, Mike has been involved with the Men’s National team for the last four years as a Scout in 2007 for the national team selection camp, Assistant General Manager in 2009 and recently as General Manager of Canada’s Over 40 National Team.

Ian MooresAssistant Coach

Head coach of the Newfoundland Black Horse, has come fresh off a national Championship in 2010. Moores has been involved for numerous years with Canada’s Under 20 National Team which includes a 2008 World Championship in his home province of Newfoundland.

Jason BaianiAssistant Coach

A former Men’s National Team Player and World Champion will make his debut as a national team coach in 2011. Baiani is known for being a special teams play specialist, brings a wealth of knowledge to the national program with his experience as a player.

Dr. Jason Su Team Doctor

Doctor Su has been involved with the Men’s and Under 20 national teams for many years.  “Doc,” as he is known within the program, has excellent skills and expertise in sports medicine that has taken our program to the highest level in the sport.

Marta Dos SantosRegistered Massage Therapist

A long time fixture with both the Under 20 and Men’s program, Marta is returning in 2011 with her high level of skill and tremendous knowledge of sports injuries, rehabilitation and massage therapy.

Harvey BoutilierEquipment Manager

Harvey has been involved with the Under 20 program for the last two World Championship Teams and most recently with Men’s Over 40 National team.  His hard work ethic and dedication to ensure the players and other staff have everything they need is second to none.

Rene Vandenboom PhD.Fitness Director

Well versed in skeletal muscle physiology and biophysics, Rene has developed a fitness and dietary program for all Canadian High Performance teams.  Rene is not only our fitness guru but also has a great eye for talent and will be assisting the coaching staff as an eye in the sky.  This will be Rene’s third tour of duty with the Men’s team.
